4th of July weekend

Aunt Lindsie came to visit us in Murfreesboro for the the Fourth of July Weekend. We, and especially Landon, enjoyed having her visit. She is great with him and he adores having all the attention.

For the Fourth of July we headed to a small tourist town just a little ways away called Bell Buckle. It is a quaint little town complete with victorian era homes, and a little row of small town shops that included craft stores, antique stores, a cafe, and an ice cream parlor. Here is the outside of the stores.

And guess what else this little town is known for? Moon Pies and RC Cola. We couldn't leave without purchasing a taste.

Landon enjoyed his Banana Cream Moon Pie (well, only half of it because we didn't want him getting too hopped up on sugar).

And what is the Fourth without fireworks? It was a last minute decision but we stopped by a fireworks tent and purchased $3 worth of fireworks so Landon could watch them. (We knew he'd never make it to watch the city's fireworks show at 9 p.m.). Here is the little kid in Ben as he lights up the fireworks. I was very impressed he only purchased what he did, because when we sent him into the tent alone I thought he'd come out with a lot more!

We didn't get much of a reaction from the little guy, but he did watch intently. Aunt Lindsie held him just in case he decided to either A, run towards the fireworks, or B, runaway from them.

And the video below shows what Landon really enjoyed about the fireworks--running around the parking lot afterwards.

Oh, and we also spent July 3 in Nashville going to the farmer's market, a park and walking around the music row in downtown. Here's a clip of Landon cooling off in a water-works feature at the park. This clip is also proof that I too was part of the fourth of July weekend, somehow I managed to stay out of the pictures, but not this video).

In this photo he looks like a cat who just got it's paws wet. Anyway, that was our weekend and thanks to Lindsie's camera we were able to get some videos of Landon that are a little longer. We do have a few other videos that we'll put up later, but they just take so darn long to download.

Diaper issues

So our little Landon has hit that stage where he is always trying to pull off his diaper. I have started to put him in rompers again that button at that bottom, but it is not always so successful. Case and point, the pic below. He has learned to unbutton the snaps. So this is what we found at nap time, thankfully his diaper was still intact. And here's a close up of the sleeping angel. Isn't he precious?!?!

Baby gender

Well, the day of the ultrasound has come and gone so we can now announce that we are having a baby.....well, a baby. The little tike wouldn't give us a peek even after a good half hour of trying! Yes, I was disappointed and I have had to adjust to the fact that this baby may keep its gender a secret until it makes an appearance sometime in early November. The only reason we'd have another ultrasound would be if any complications arise (so I guess I'm praying not to have an ultrasound). Boy or girl, we'll be happy. But this is sure going to teach me patience!

On another note, Ben has entered the world of Corporate America. He is an intern at a financial group in its training department. He was pleasantly surprised to find out how interested he is in the project he's working on so I guess he picked the right field for him! The best part is that it is a paid internship, which was in short supply this summer due to the economy. Way to go, Babe.

Mmmm, watermelon.

We bought our first watermelon of the summer and while Ben was cutting it up we decided to let Landon enjoy some. And boy, did he slurp it up.

Memorial Weekend in Atlanta

We went to Atlanta for the extended Memorial weekend and made sure to make the most of it. We went to a Braves game which Ben really wanted to do before finishing grad school, saw the aquarium, the New World of Coca-Cola museum, and some other fun things. Ben raising up another baseball fan.

At the beginning of our Coca-Cola tour. We thought it was a neat place to spend some time, but probably not worth the money to go again.

And because we had a pool at our hotel, we took full advantage of it and had Landon have his first pool experience. At first he was a bit apprehensive, but to be fair the water was a little cool and took some getting use to. Eventually, we took him out of the tube and he stayed latched to Ben where he felt secure enough to have a little fun splashing about.

Surprise...Winger's!

So I am not a huge meat-eater, but one thing that makes a piece of chicken good is the sauce. And Winger's has that spicy sauce that I love so much... unfortunately it's a western food chain. But guess what my husband found out...there is one in Manchester, TN (which is a tiny town just forty minutes away from us.) Evidently the franchise is experimenting in a couple eastern states. Why they chose a podunk town here in TN I don't know, but I'll reap the benfits of it every once in awhile. Me and my creamy Amazing sauce. Yummy!
My wonderful husband who sat across from me and watched me relish every drop of the good stuff.

And Landon, who unfortunatly, has not acquired the taste for the finer things in life. He took one bit and would have nothing else to do with it. To be fair, it is rather spicy for a little guy.
