9 Months

Landon is now 9 months old. He went in for his doctor's check up and all is well. He is in the 75th percentile (28.5 in) for his height and is in the 50th percentile for his weight (19.14 lbs). He loves to stand and hold on to things while he walks around and is starting to let go and take a couple steps on his own. So our little crawler will soon be toddeling around.

He's eating more "big people" foods like cheese, crackers, bread, fruit, and whatever his mommy sneaks him throughout the day. One funny note is that he doesn't like it when he has shoes on. He cries and refuses to stand up until he either kicks them off on his own or we give up and take them off. I guess we didn't start putting shoes on him earlier enough, now it will be an uphill battle.

Our messy eater

So this is the messiest our child has ever been in his entire 9 months of life. We gave him what is called a biter biscuit as a treat while his daddy and I were eating dinner. I turn around to see how he is progressing with his treat and this is what I find--yuck!

But it was really funny too. Because he only has two little teeth on the bottom he had to suck on it to soften it and soon all he had was this messy orange and brown goo that he managed to get all over his face, hair and clothes. We let him enjoy the whole thing and then gave him a bath. Ben took a video so you can see some of the action up close and personal.

Scruffy Vs. Clean-shaven

Ben had a whole month off from school for the break between semesters and decided he wasn't going to shave or cut his hair that whole time. He hates to shave. I thought he would have broken down sometime while we were out in Idaho or Utah visiting family, but no he stuck to his guns. People called him Abraham Lincoln, Brigham Young and Mountain Man and I think he enjoyed it. But a couple days after his semester started he bit the bullet and allowed me to take a razer to his bushy mane and scruffy beard. I personally like him either way, but the clean shaven look does bring out his boyish charm. Of course now he wants to Bic his head. What do you think, beard or no beard?

Christmas pics

Scroll over the picture to see the description.
We had a wonderful three and a half week Christmas vacation. We spent the first half in Idaho with my family and then the last half with Ben's family in Utah. It snowed a ton so we had ourselves a white Christmas. Thank you so much to our parents who footed the bill for the plane tickets. Landon did very well flying despite all the horror stories we heard about ear problems in babies. This vacaiton was very nice because we had the chance to be surrounded by family and to not have a care in the world (meaning no cooking, cleaning, homework or working).

Glimpse at 2008

This has been one crazy year for us, here's just a list of a few things we've done
(Don't worry, I will post christmas photos when we get them downloaded from the camera)

1. Had a baby, Landon was born April 2008
2. Said goodbye to the Standard Journal and became a stay at home mom
3. Ben graduated from BYU-Idaho
4. Ben started graduate school at MTSU
5. Moved across the country to Tennessee
6. We are landowners and renters all at the same time :( Now is not the time to sell property)
7. Landon got his first two teeth
8. Visited Ben's grandparents in North Carolina, and had our first visitors to Tennessee when Ben's family joined us for the trip.
9. Ben's chili won first prize at two different chili cook-offs (Thus ensuring his bragging rights for many years to come)
10. Last but not least, Landon's first plane ride when we flew out to spend Christmas in Idaho and Utah.

We didn't stay up and ring in the new year since half of the household is recovering from the dreaded stomach virus that has so violently visited so many other families this year. So though there was no party or sparkling apple cider, we are still very much looking forward to 2009.
